Romania's famous monasteries - Petru Vodă Monastery

On August 30, during my short pilgrimages to the Monasteries in Neamț County, I finally arrived at the Petru Vodă Monastery, from the second attempt. Somewhere in July I found only the Paltin Petru Vodă Monastery.

The first visit to this monastery was in August 2005 through a pilgrimage to various monasteries in Neamt. I wanted to see this place again, it attracts me like a magnet.

That's how I discovered my passion to discover historical places, monasteries, beautiful landscapes and more. Almost everything related to my country.

Petru Vodă Monastery

This place is of extraordinary beauty, a place that charges you with emotion and energy. The phone couldn't capture the beauty there. Church painting leaves you speechless. A real corner of heaven. This church is said to be considered the Voroneț of Neamț, being the only monastery in Neamț whose church has painted exterior walls.

Petru Vodă Monastery is known as an important center of pilgrimage and ecumenical tourism in the Neamț area. It was founded in 1991 and is dedicated to the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel. At first here, it was a hermitage and in 1994 it became a monastery.

The church of the monastery was built with wooden beams, based on concrete, and the painting of the church was done between 1994-2000, using tempera technique. The poultice is made of carved oak.

The altar is lit by an east-facing window. It is separated from the nave by an oak iconostasis, which rises to the wall that descends from the vault of the altar.

The monastery is actually a memorial dedicated to the victims of communism. In Romania, communism not only destroyed lives but also holy places. After 1990, many monasteries were reopened.

As you can see the walls of the church are different and only in a few churches / monasteries you will see something like that.
