Romania's famous monasteries - Brazi Monastery

Brazi Monastery is a nunnery in Vrancea County. It is located about 1 km from the town of Panciu, under Dealul Neicului, on the right bank of a stream, Hăulita. Ever since the time of Stephen the Great, here, there was a hermitage where the Hermit George lived, a healer of those times.

Some time ago I saw on a local television station a documentary about the Brazi Monastery, which aroused my interest. I wanted to go to this monastery for a long time and I managed to do it. In general, when I propose something, I don't give up until I succeed.

This monastery is a true oasis of spirituality of Vrancea County  here of the relics for the Holy Hierarch Martyr Theodosius of Brazi, and because prayer and public work. You should know that Brazi Monastery is worth visiting at least out of historical curiosity. I say that such a visit is justified.

I can't help but tell you that from the moment I got out of the car I felt like all the negative thoughts were gone, a positive energy had taken its place. A beautiful place, as you can see from the photos.

I can also tell you about the Brazi Monastery that in the 15th century. In the 17th century, two monks, Sava and Teofilact, built an underground church that still exists today. Here he spent the last years of his life the Holy Martyr Theodosius - former Metropolitan of Moldova, killed by the Tartars by beheading, because he refused to give them for the tortures he founded. The saint was buried in the Brazi Hermitage, by the monks who lived there.

The courtyard of the monastery is perched on a hill; Behind a fir border is the Chapel of the monastery, which houses part of the relics of the Holy Martyr Theodosie the Martyr. The current Chapel of the monastery was built between 1993-1994.

In 1842, the then abbot, Hieroschimonah Dimitrie, demanded that his own tomb be dug in the monastery cemetery and thus discovered the relics of Saint Theodosius. The body was reburied in the basement of the "Resurrection of Lazarus" chapel, and the head was kept in the altar of the chapel, to be honored by monks and believers.

The Holy Martyr Theodosius of Brazi, considered the patron of the Brazi Monastery, was appointed Bishop of Rădăuți in 1670, noting that he offered help to all places of worship in his area. For a short period of time, during the reign of Dumitrașcu Vodă, Teodosie was appointed to lead the Metropolitan Church of Moldova, then he was removed by the ruler because he reproached him for letting the Turks oppress the Moldovans
