Romania's famous monasteries - Trotușanu Monastery

 Mănăstirea Trotușanu

Trotușanu Monastery dates from 1676 and was founded by the Holy Hierarch Martyr Theodosius from Brazi Monastery. Like the former Brazi hermitage, currently Brazi Monastery, the hermitage was disbanded in 1959. It was reopened as a monastery in 1990. But when you discover it, you marvel at the surprising beauty of its simplicity and wonder how there can be such a gift without knowing it.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the Trotuşanu Hermitage was taken over, for spiritual and household chivernisation, by the hieroschimonah Dimitrie, abbot, at the same time, of the Brazi Hermitage near Panciu.

He built, in 1809, at the Trotuşanu Hermitage, the wooden church dedicated to "Saint Hierarch Nicolae", which, in 1858, after the construction of the current holy place of worship by the abbess Anastasia, was moved to the cemetery of Viişoara village

After 1990, new buildings were erected here by the monastery community: the chapel "Spring of Healing" (in 1992-1994), the bell tower, cells, refectory and annexes.

Trotușanu Monastery

Today I am writing to you again about the adventures I had in the footsteps of the faith in Vrancea County. This time the target was Trotușanu Monastery, from Movilița commune. I love everything about history.

As we like to discover historical monasteries, w e decided to visit Trotușanu Monastery as well. According to the indicator from Brazi Monastery, Trotușanu Monastery had to be somewhere in the area, not far away. Well, it wasn't really like that, the signs confused us on the way that we were on the verge of giving up. It was impossible to miss this monastery and I wanted to show you what I saw.

After the failed attempts, we arrived in a beautiful place, full of inner peace, with a lot of emotional charge. Although apparently at the end of the village, many believers come to pray. The churches of the Monastery are dedicated to "The Healing Spring" and "Saint Hierarch Nicolae".

In my research I found out that, at the beginning of the 19th century, the hermitage was run by the hieroschimonah Dimitrie, abbot, at the same time, of the Brazi Hermitage near Panciu. In 1959 it was completely demolished, the buildings being completely demolished by the people who took construction material.

I can also tell you about Trotușanu Monastery that after 1990 it is a monastic settlement of nuns. New buildings, the bell tower, cells and annexes were erected here. In 1990, only the church and a cell were here. Everything had to be taken from scratch.

Considering that many believers come from several parts of the country, the monastery has a generous parking lot. Personally I was amazed by the number of parked cars, I could hardly find a parking space.

After discovering the monastery, you marvel at the surprising beauty of its simplicity and wonder how there can be such a gift without knowing about it.

What do you say, you dare to visit it. This is not about religious considerations. It's about place, architecture and history.
