Our next goal was Muddy Volcanoes from Păclele Mici, because we wanted to see how "alive" they are. Someone told me like the time when I'm in a "nervous mood."
In Romania, muddy volcanoes can be found in several places, such as: Ocna Sibiului, in Homorod, in Bazna, on the hills of Transylvania, in certain hilly areas in Moldova and in Pâclele Mari and Pâclele Mici in Buzău County.
We arrived very easily, the signs took us exactly to the desired place without using the GPS. I entered where the volcanoes were, my parents paid the entrance ticket, (I, being a person with disabilities, did not pay). What to see, the volcanoes were boiling hard and in front of us was a beautiful landscape. Above all, I liked how the gases could be heard forming somewhere inside the earth, the echo there could be heard on the surface. As for the vegetation, it is almost completely missing.
For those interested, especially for gourmets, at Pâclele Mici there is a small leisure place, where the traditional Pleşcoi sausages are served.
I admit that for me it was the first opportunity to get to this area, although it is not very far.
Between Pâclele Mari and Pâclele Mici, we visited the volcanoes from Pâclele Mici, I hope that in 2021 we will also see Păclele Mari.
The formations we find now in the Buzău area have been present for thousands of years, but the attention was focused on them in 1867, when a Frenchman was looking for oil.
I can say that I visited a place, or rather an interesting area, a lesser known place, but it was something difficult to describe in words. We took pictures, we even filmed a "bubble" and we walked on the clay soil.
The point of attraction is approximately in the middle of the reservation and has the shape of a large cone, about 2 meters in diameter, very active, which often throws mud and forms lava trails as you can see in the photos. It is the place where most tourists spend the most time. Where the spilled mud has recently dried, thick powdery mildew is added to the already deposited, yellowish layer.
In the central part of the Curvature Subcarpathians, on the territory of Berca and Scorțoasa communes, nature endowed the Buzau hills with a special phenomenon, known as the Muddy Volcanoes. The muddy volcanoes in BuThe Muddy Volcanoes of Păclele Mici are slightly smaller in height and number than the Muddy Volcanoes of Pâclele Mari, except for the central part of the plateau, where there is a prominent, high cone, which has two large active craters at the top.zau County occupy the largest area in the country.
Păclele Mici is located at an altitude of 341 m and has an area of 16.5 ha. In the vicinity of muddy volcanoes, the soil is sulphurous and salty, unsuitable for ordinary vegetation. However, certain specially adapted plant species, such as Nitraria schoberi and Obione verrucifera, find a favorable living environment here.
