As I told you the other day, I want to invite you (virtually) to the most recognized ozonated resort in Europe. Even before reaching Soveja Resort, the fairytale landscape, with towering firs and silver birches, simply enchanted us. Soveja is a commune at the foot of the Vrancea Mountains.
The first stop was at the Soveja Hermitage located at the entrance to the Soveja Resort, established in memory of the foundation of Ruler Matei Basarab, about which I wrote here.
In the end, we arrived in the Resort, once one of the most beautiful areas in Vrancea County. For those who did not know, it is the area in the country with the most ozonated air, not only in Romania, but in Europe too. The area is beautiful, the landscapes are dreamy, but poorly maintained and too little promoted.
Here you will find the most beautiful traditions preserved from ancient times. Those who want to spend their vacation in this place of history will be able to visit the Museum of Ethnography too.
During communism it was a resort with many tourists. After the 1990s, the resort entered a shadow cone. Someone said that Soveja was far behind the Lepșa resort, which I wrote about here.
As you know, it was a one day escape, so we didn't have to stay, but we saw locations that seemed to offer decent accommodation. Exception is the Hotel Zboina, once a very popular accommodation in the resort, today becoming just a ruin.
Soveja Resort stands out for its fairytale landscapes.
Soveja is the ideal place for the treatment of silicosis and other respiratory diseases. It is documented in the seventeenth century, Soveja is a commune of about 2000 inhabitants, located in Vrancea County, consisting of the villages Rucăreni and Dragosloveni.
When asked if I recommend Soveja Resort, I say it would be worth it, at least a weekend to fill your lungs with the most ozoned air.
In conclusion, I recommend you visit Soveja because the sights in the area are interesting and the landscapes are truly magnificent.
